Death Knight Stats And More
WoWFix.com : Upcoming Death Knight ChangesMany death knight glyphs have been changed. In many cases the negative consequences were removed. New death knight sigils are now available, primarily from vendors, including a tanking-oriented sigil. ...
Here's a excellent article on DK stats and which ones you want and don't want. The poster points out that that there's still a lot of theorycrafting to do, but that these are the best estimates so far.
I've seen a lot of people asking these questions as we've been getting into the expansion: Now that I am trying to gear by Death Knights, what stats should I get? What's good for a Death Knight? Which armor should I take. We've started getting in that somewhat in the last few columns, with advice on reputation gear and starting zone gear, but I figured today we should delve a little bit more into the why of Death Knight stats.
Here's the rest: Lichborne: A Death Knight statistics primer
If you haven't started a Death Knight yet you might want to check out this free Death Knight leveling guide for their starter area (covering levels 55-58.) Not that the starter area is difficult, but sometimes it's nice to have a helping hand and the price is certainly right.

Wrath of the WoW Leveling Guide
Now we have Wrath of the Lich King. Wrath brings with it another 10 levels, another whole new continent to explore, new dungeons, new gear (which will obsolete our current gear,) and, of course, the Lich King himself.
Unlike the Outlands, the new continent, Northrend, doesn’t have any level requirement. If you want to send your level 1 explorer there then go for it. Mobs start at level 68 so if you actually want to fight something, then bring along a character of a little higher level. If you’re not high enough level yet then you should get to work.
For the intrepid explorer, who likes to poke around in all the new nooks and crannies of a new area, Northrend offers lots to see and do. If you’re the type who like to level a little faster be aware that the quests in Northrend, like all the other WoW quests, will send you all over the place. A little organizing of your quests will be needed to make your leveling efficient.
As usual, when you hit any new area and start grabbing quests you will note that they send you in all directions, some are local and some send you to other zones. Make a note of which quest sends you where and then figure out the most efficient path to hit those quests. If one, or some, of them take you to the big city wait until you have others in that city and/or you are going to be there anyway, Your class training is one example.
Once people started hitting level 60 they immediately noticed that quite a large number of experience points were needed to hit 61. The same is true for the new levels. 70-71 is something of a long haul, especially if you aren’t organized. If you approach thing willy nilly you will find that each level will take a long time.
Grinding, of course, is something that can be done, but with the loooong levels from 70 onward it seems to me that this will be extraordinarily dull. Take whatever stash of Mountain Dew, pizza, and tunes that you laid in for your pre-70 grind fests and triple it.
You will find that some people hit 80 very quickly after starting Wrath. They don’t do it by grinding or by doing quests randomly. The fastest of them will have leveled characters in the beta test, probably more than one, so already know the routes. Some will use a leveling guide, written by someone who’s done the 70-80 route, probably several times, and laid it all out.
One thing that will help you on your travels is to grab a WoW addon called “Cartographer.” This addon lets you set waypoints which are a big help in finding your way around whichever zone you happen to be in. Grab a quest, locate the area that you want to be in, set a way point, and follow the arrow on your main screen. Cartographer also has the maps for the battlegrounds and the dungeons.
Need info on a quest that the quest log just doesn’t provide? Thottbot.com has details on all of the quests, of any level. Have a question about where to go or what to do? Thottbot.com has the answers. Make it a point to read the comments under the quest data. That’s where the really juicy info is located.
If you haven’t already made that 70-80 (or 1-80) run yet then things can get a little confusing from time to time. If you treat yourself to a pre-written leveling guide then you can eliminate the confusion and just level. These guides are put together by people who have already been there and done that and learned to do it in an efficient manner. A guide will point you in the right direction, tell you where to go and what to do, and cut a whole lot of time off of your leveling speed.
Better yet is if that guide acts as part of the game itself. So not only do you know where to go and what to do, you’re reminded of all the details that you need to know about the quest. Better yet is if the guide updates itself. So once you finish a quest the guide updates to the next one, automatically, resetting the waypoint arrow as well. Even better is if the guide remembers where you left off. If you leave the game for a couple of weeks, or don’t play a certain character for a long time, the guide will pick up right where you left off.
Best yet is if you never have to leave the main screen, look at your quest log, consult Thottbot or any other website, and can just go from quest to quest, bang, bang, bang. Zygor’s Guide does exactly that. It’s a fully automated in-game guide that will get you leveled faster than anything else out there, because it eliminates all the time spent looking things up.
Zygor’s in-game leveling guide answers all the above concerns and its automation is head and shoulders above any other in-game guide available. To see exactly how it works and how much it will speed up your leveling take a look at these videos and the review of Zygor’s Leveling Guide. Get the edge over your friends and hit 80 long before they’re even close.

Wrath of the Lich King on Amazon
I fully expect that the iDemise guys will have a level 70-80 leveling guide update very soon after the expansio goes live, especially if they're in the beta. Since it'll be a free update you're covered if you grab your copy now. Here's the iDemise review.

The Cunning Blade Quest
Still, it's a fun little quest to do, it's different for every Rogue race, and if stuff isn't dropping off the AH for you, then go for it.
Here's a complete walkthrough of the quest for every race in WoW: Level 10 Rogue Cunning Blade Quest

Massive Warcraft Gold Blueprint
But even at the level (70) where you're doing all that stuff you'll want to pay for the repair bills, consumables, gear for alts, etc. Those enhancements for your uber arena gear don't come cheap, either.
While you're leveling up you might even be keeping an eye on the auction house for interesting items (such as that level 38 epic mace I just bought for my 39 Rogue.)
So you're going to have certain requirements for some pretty decent amounts of gold, even without the gear. Depending on your tastes and how many alts you're feeding (and twinking) you might even have a use for a massive amount of WoW gold.
That's where the Massive WoW Gold Blueprint comes in. You'll learn how to make Massive gold in WoW and you'll do it without turning your high level characters into farmers. Check it out.

Team iDemise Leveling Guide Update
That kick butt guide has now been updated.
Previously the guide was integrated into your main map using the Map Notes addon. Now they've brought it out to your main screen.
Here's a screenshot with just the main guide window open (see below for the smaller window.) Click the image for a bigger picture.
In this window you can easily find out where you should be leveling by hitting the LRAZ button. So if you're a level 1 Troll, then you pick the 1-10 ranges and then the starting area.
If you're coming in as a level 45 Priest, then you pick the 40-49 range, then the zone appropriate to your level. In this case it would be Feralas.
Hit the "Display" button and you're good to go. It'll list the first quest in the area, where you need to go, and what you need to do. Finish the quest, check the box, hit the next button, and you'll have that detail.
The iDemise guide will group your quests, so you'll be doing 2 or more in any one area. A waypoint arrow is automatically set for one of the quests in the group, though you can go into your main map and set any other waypoint that you prefer.
If you look closely you'll see some red letters at the bottom of the guide. This is your exact location. This might come in handy if you need to come back to an exact point sometime.
In addition...
Here's a screenshot with all the windows open. You have the main guide window (seen above) plus...
+ The drop down menu where you can learn where you should be leveling
+ Pro tips - iDemise includes a number of tips to make youir gaming more efficient. I think they could expand on this, but the ones they provide are quite good.
+ The options menu - Currently you can only adjust the transparency of the main guide.
+ A talent build. The guide notes which class you are and will provide a very solid recommended talent build for your character. You don't have to use it, but this is a great thing for players unfamiliar with the class.
The guide window can be minimized and moved anywhere. Restore it to full size anytime you like, check off what needs to be checked, then reduce it.
Note the green waypoint arrow at the top of the screen. This is set automatically.
Points are also automatically placed on your main map, so you can always see where you are in relaltion to where you have to go.
Flexibility - You can pick here you want to go and what you want to do. Don't want to do a particular quest? Skip it and go to the next one. Want to do one that isn't mentioned? Go for it.
Good memory - Log out and come back in and the guide will remember where you left off. That's a big improvement over the old version or a PDF or website guide.
Free updates - When you grab your copy of the guide you'll be entitled to free updates for the life of the guide.
Got questions? You'll also have access to a forum where you can ask questions and kick ideas around with other guide users.
Quibbles
- I did manage to lose the guide once. I had the minimized window near the bottom of the screen and when I maximized it the window moved offscreen or otherwise disappeared. I haven't been able to repeat this, despite many tries, so I think it was a one time thing. Logging out and then back in fixed it.
- It's not automated. oooo... big issue, right? You do have to check things off and hit "next". It'll let you pick where you want to go and what you want to do, or skip.
- That IS a really big window, isn't it? For most of your quests it will be a mostly empty window. Fortunately, you can minimize it at any time.
- There are a few typos and there may be some small errors (the author requests feedback,) but in our testing it's pretty solid and the typos aren't significant.
- No lengthy grind sessions. This guide is all quests. In our experience you'll probably find yourself a little ahead of the guide at most times. On rare occasions you might have to grind for a bar of XP. 99.9% of the time you'll be questing and leveling fast.
- Fast leveling - This guide just feels fast. Our expert used the old guide from 20 to 70 with a Blood Elf Pally and loved it. Now it's faster, since there's no switching back and forth to a map or setting waypoints. I'm running a Troll Rogue with the guide and I'll post times to several levels later. I'm not a speed leveler so you should easily be able to beat any time I come up with.
- Talents - As mentioned above the talent builds are cool. Yours may differ and you certainly aren't required to use theirs, but it's nice when playing unfamiliar characters.
Oh, by the way, the iDemise Leveling Guide is available for both Horde and Alliance.

Massive WoW Gold Blueprint Contest
As you may know, Jonathan Kinens has released four videos and an audio (ansewering lots of questions about the Blueprint) and now he's gone just a bit nuts.
He's going to give away two free copies of this thing, along with all the bonuses, to someone who does the best job of telling him why they deserve it. Not in an email, but in a blog post.
First though, a little test: Once you click through any of the video links below, you have to find the blog. Don't worry, it's so easy that even I was able to do it. So find the blog, find the contest post, and leave a comment telling Jon why you deserve to have the free copy of His Massive WoW Gold Blueprint.

The TeamiDemise Leveling Guide
Imaging these guys in WoW PvP... Talk about a brutal premade.
They've also written a leveling guide that's pretty cool. Like Joana's Guide and Brian's Guide it uses the Map Notes addon to allow one to quickly locate each and every quest in the guide.
So what's cool about the iDemise guide? The entire guide is in-game. They've taken the map notes system and written it up as Step 1, Step 2, etc... You enter a zone appropriate for your level, click step 1, set a waypoint, and off you go. Then hit step 2, which just happens to be nearby, and so on... Also included, with the notes and waypoints, are quest tips, lots of "do this, here" notes, and professional gameplay tips.
Edit: the iDemise Guide has been updated for more in-game goodness. Go to this post for details -> iDemise leveling guide update
This image is a partial screenshot of their Ironforge map. Note the steps, which areas to go to for which levels, and the tips provided with the steps.
No more alt-tab switching to the PDF guide, now you can go from 1-70 without leaving the game. Our resident expert, who's been playing since beta, and who's played enough of all aspects of the game to be seriously burnt out, says the iDemise guide made the game fun again. Pretty high praise.
They also claim to have set a number of speed records and our expert agrees that you can go pretty fast with their system (He's matched Joana's speed previous to this.)
One more thing is that Brian and Joana's guide focus on the Hunter, well known for its solo leveling speed, and the iDemise guide doesn't. Play whatever character you like, the iDemise guide will get you leveled fast.
Now, if you're the type of player who likes to print out pages from a guide, put them onto a clipboard, and check them off as you do them (which I did with Joana's Guide) then you'll have to get past that or this isn't the guide for you.
There's also one big minus from the point of view of the newer player. The iDemise guide assumes you already know your way around the world. Now I can get around fine on the Horde side, since that's where I've been running through Joana's guide, but alliance side was new. My wife and I rolled Night Elves, ran through the iDemise guide to the point where we'd done all the quests, and then it tells us to go to Dun Morog.
But says nothng about how to get there. I know, you find that funny as did our 15 yr old expert (darn teenagers ;) ) but we didn't know what connected to what or why we wanted to go to Dun Morog. (Why go to the Dwarf starting area???)
We finally found out, once our expert stopped laughing, and made our way to Loch Modan, Ironforge, Stormwind, and eventually to West Fall. Where a level 37 Hunter invited us into his guild and then ran us through most of the Van Cleef instance (up the the ship.) Ok, it wa a little outside the guide (heh) but we got some nice greens, useful blues, and gained a level.
So in my view those are the two hits against the guide - the little one that you can't put it on a clipboard (and no links to thottbot, etc.) and the bigger one (for some of us) that there's nothing that tells you how to get from area A to area B, whereas Brian's Guide has pictures and Joana's Guide has pictures and videos.
Having the entire 1-70 leveling guide in-game though is just damn cool, though. And since it's based on the map notes system you can edit the notes for your own needs (as you can with the others.) Check out the TeamiDemise leveling guide here (it's for both Horde and Alliance.)
That WoW Druid Quest Thing
It's on squidoo: WoW Druid Quest Guide (Bear form)
Enjoying my WoW Rogue
So here's an update. I'm currently at level 65 and have 380 gold on the character and about 1100 on the auction house mule. I'd show you a link to the Armory stats, but that site isn't working right now. (But here's a cool character creator sandbox I found.)
/played shows 13 days, 14 hours, 40 min, 6 sec. All solo. Not too horrible, especially since I'm one of those players who likes to explore a bit. I've spent a fair amount of time sneaking through instances and looking over the next hill. Yeah, I'm a newb, get over it. ;) I haven't done any PvP, out side of mutual ganking, and no raids or group instances, so I don't have the hot gear.
Still, for this being my first character past level 8 I'm quite happy with the pace and have enough cash that I can get whatever I need.
Joana's 1-70 Horde Leveling Guide has made the whole trip to 65 (so far) easy. Someone who wasn't totally new to the game and who just blasts through the guide, without all the side excursions, should be able to get close to Joana's record leveling times. Want to break those records? I think you'd better have a pretty polished game.
As you may know, every quest in Joana's Guide has a link to one of the WoW databases (eg: Thottbot) and everything has a video. In fact, you can watch his entire speed run on video. I've found a couple of those videos quites useful and have used the links more than once.
With the Valkor's guide tips I have my epic chicken mount and have bought plenty of gear, some of which has been replaced with Outlands gear. I expect to be able to buy my epic flying mount at 70 without too much work.
Of course, the dedicated gold grinders will have a lot more gold and the people who know the game well, and are more focused, will level faster with the guide than I will.
For the person who's doing the game solo, or mostly solo, then I strongly recommend Joana's Guide (for the Horde.) Valkor's Gold Guide has lots of tips which I've found to be quite useful, even for low level chars, so check it out.

Blizzard Pwns Peons4Hire
One group, In Game Dollar, was known for very aggressive in-game marketing of their products. While I didn't bump into them I've heard people describe some of their tactics. Beside being a direct violation of Blizzard's terms of service these tactics sound really annoying and would certainly damage one's enjoyment of the game.
So Blizzard took them to court over the issue and Blizzard won. Virtually Blind says:
Blizzard’s lawsuit against virtual item and power-leveling company In Game Dollar (doing business as Peons4Hire) has settled, resulting in a permanent injunction that essentially shuts down In Game Dollar’s entire World of Warcraft operation. Though no monetary damages are specified, the injunction represents a complete victory for Blizzard.
The rest of the story is here.

Is There a Tauren Chef in the Kitchen
Have you ever found yourself playing World of Warcraft when you found yourself overcome with a desire for Redridge Goulash or Beer Basted Boar Ribs? No? Well, neither have I, but I have to say that Tauren Chef's Unofficial World of Warcraft recipes have me intrigued anyway....Personally, I don't think $19.97 is too high a barrier to entry, especially since you can download it immediately, but people differ. Anyway, it seems to be getting some good reviews, so we're pretty pleased.
Here's the rest
By the way, if you want to check out Ironforge Bread Pudding, hop over to theWoWcookbook.com.
World of Warcraft Gold Limit Found!
According to Internet sources, the limit is currently set at 214,748 gold, 36 silver, 48 copper, and once reached will prevent you from receiving any more cash.
Now how the heck did they find that our? Did some character actually hit the limit? Yow. Now, for most of us that number is a dream. we'll never get close. Even if you follow everything in Valkor's Gold Guide it'll take you a looooooong time to hit that point. It's a nice thought, though...

Hunters and Rogues
Ah yes, the easy classes they've been called. Still fun, though.
So I made up a Blood Elf Rogue and am following Joana's Horde Guide to the letter. Well, mostly. I'm also taking plenty of tips from Valkor's Gold guide. So at level 22 I think I'm pretty decently equipped, am making levels and gold at a good rate, and am avoiding PvP like the plague (for now.)
What? Avoid PvP? Bah! You n00b! Whatever. It's a test of Joana's guide and there's nothing about PvP in the guide since PvP has nothing to do with leveling (though the PvP gear is pretty sweet...)
Joana covers each of the starting areas for the Horde races, so you get the step by step detail regardless of what race you choose.
At level 22 (Rogue) I have 40 gold, +40 add to Agility, nice adds to the other stats, 16 slot bags, and I am not mooching off any other characters or mains (which would kill the point of using the guides, right?) You may well have better, but this ain't bad. I've made a lot of it by selling skins and ore, but there's a lot of other stuff you can do to build your cash stash.
Now I have a case of Altaholism, just like most of the rest of you, so it's not like this Rogue is going to get to 70 tomorrow, but I'm pretty happy with the pace so far. It's way faster than normal. If leveling's your priority then the guide is a big help, because it lays out everything in a very organized manner and tells you exactly where everything is. Go here, do this, boom boom boom level fast.
What about the Hunter? We have a trio that sticks together, two Hunters and a Rogue, also mostly sticking to Joanna's guide. Plenty of trips into town and the AH, though, and we're easily distracted. One of the Hunter's is completely new to WoW, and gaming in general, so the Hunter is perfect for her. If you're doing speed runs the Hunter is the way to go.
They're actually the class of choice for Joana's speed leveling runs (When Blizzard pops a new server Joana does a speed run to 70, the goal being to be the first on the server to 70, He usually succeeds by a wide margin.) Mostly because they're the easiest to solo.
Snag your copy of Joana's 1-70 Leveling Guide here and get leveled fast.
Edit: Made it all the way to 70 in about 15 days /played time, which isn't bad for my first character to make it past the newb area. I used those thottbot and video links in the guide. Next run through will be a lot faster.

Romulo and Julianne
So there are some small difference here...
Take a look at the Romulo and Julianne guide and see if it doesn't help you turn the tables on this pair of nasties.
Here's Illuminati putting R & J in their place:
World of Warcraft Grinding Spots
Now, of you're grinding for loot, raw materials, etc., it isn't quite so bad. If you're a mage (see below) you can learn to kite masses of mobs, kill 'em all, and loot. This can be very quick if you know what you're doing.
So here's a basic wow grinding guide, with the what and where. Gear and loot is up to you.
Gnome mage A of E grinding in Tanaris. Does anyone really play gnomes? Well, anyway, here it is:
While grinding has it's points, questing will get you leveled faster unless maybe you're an expert at that A of E grinding stuff...). So here's the best horde leveling guide and this one's the alliance leveling guide.
The World of Warcraft Warrior Guide
If you have the right gear and you're fighting the right things you'll be ok. Warriors are more gear based than most of the other classes, so you'll need to learn the gold grind (or have rich friends) to keep yourself in the right gear.
Collecting PvP honor points and arena points will also get you into good gear, but you're going to die a lot until you get that gear.
Still, if you want to be a warrior, and/or you think I'm full of kodo droppings, then here's the warrior guide and here's the really killer warrior guide!
Happy hacking!
WoW's Shadow Priest
Really, it all depends on what works best for you. How you desire to play your character determines which character you make and which path you follow. Well duh. Most people don't roll Priests for the massive damage dealing and killing capabilities, but some do, and if so Shadow Priest is the one for you.
Aspiring Shadow Priests should understand one thing, even if you have shadow form and all nice damage spells, sometimes you actually do have to heal, like when in a party, or you're about to die, the holy and discipline tree's do exist for us dark siders.
Finally, not all endgame guilds, dungeons, etc. require shadow priests, obviously we bring some things to the table, but don't count on that spot not having been filled by one of the many already existing 70 priests who've gone shadow.
That said, here's a shadow priest guide that'll get you started on the dark side and give you a good idea of the gear you'll need to get, but if you want to rule you'll look into snagging a the Killer Guides' Priest Guide.
World of Warcraft Blacksmithing
First, save yourself a TON of money over the long term and get the mining skill. That way not only can you make a ton of cash by selling ore you'll also be able to provide raw materials for your own (and your guild's) blacksmithing without having to buy the stuff off the Auction House.
Second, learn to use the Auction House. All of the good Gold Guides have a ton of tips on how best to use the AH to make your character rich. If you're not already an AH expert then you should grab one.
Next, find the local mining trainer and buy the apprentice mining skill. Ask a guard if you don't already know in which corner the trainer is lurking. Then grab yourself a pick, head to the kills, er... hills, and start mining. Sell your stacks of ore (in stacks of 20) on the AH. Rinse and repeat.
As for what to mine, what you need to to get to what skill level, and what you need at each skill level, here's a full wow blacksmithing guide that'll take you all the way to skill rank 375 and give you an estimated list of materials required to get there.
Happy smithing!

WoW Mining Guide
You can sell the ore you pick up on the auction house for prices much higher than you'll get from the vendors. Make it a regular routine: mine where you can, make a stack, sell it, rinse and repeat. Soon you'll have a lot more gold than your pals.
Also, the ore you mine is used in the Engineering and Blacksmithing tradeskills. If you're able to mine your own ore you won't need to buy it off the auction house. This will save you a ton of cash.
Here's a complete wow mining guide which will take you up to the max skill level possible.
Don't want to bother with earning gold by mining? Buying gold can get you banned (ask around, it's true) so our recommendation is a good gold guide which will give you the who, what, where, when, and why of making more gold than you can spend.
By the way, one of the tradeskills in WoW is cooking. Here's a cookbook which takes that WoW cooking and brings it into real world kitchens.
Ninjoo's Shaman Class Guide
Shamans are indeed an interesting class, in fact they're one of the more hybridized classes, which just means they depend more upon a mixture of abilities than almost any other class, except for maybe the Paladin or Druid.
Shamans present the interesting bonus of being able to summon totems, essentially little buffing posts that provide something similar to a paladin's aura, except in a limited range around the totem itself rather than the shaman. The upside is that you can have 4 of different elements going at the same time. This can be amazingly useful if you need to be stationary in your battle.
Obviously the ability to not only have 4 different totems out, each giving some rather nice buffs, but also the ability to heal, melee, and throw out some nasty damage spells, makes Shamans a fun, and challenging, class to play.
Utilizing all of theses to an effective degree will take some time, experience, and personal skill, but any good shaman will find it rather easy and insinctive eventually.
You'll find a Shaman guide here, which will hit a lot more detail, but if you want to get your Shaman to rule you'll want to treat yourself to the Killer Guides Shaman Guide.
Shade of Aran
The Shade of Aran is a boss in the abandoned tower of Karazhan. He is the spirit of Nielas Aran, the father of Medivh - the previous occupant of Karazhan.
He is located in the Guardian's Library, which is a small, circular room (about 45 yards in diameter), with one door that closes and locks as soon as the fight begins.
The Shade of Aran is an optional boss. However, after he is defeated, a teleport to his room becomes available from Berthold the Doorman, and all trash mobs from the Curator to Aran (exc. one pack outside Illhoof's door) cease to respawn.
So, it's a very good idea to kill him. (The trash above his library is linked to Netherspite.)
For a good guide on how to send Aran to the great beyond check out this Shade of Aran guide.
There are also some pretty good Aran mashing tips in the comments on Thottbot.
How to Finish High King Maulgar
King Maulgar and his vicious High Council are the beasties in charge of the ogres of Blade's Edge Mountains.
This is the first 25 man raid encounter of the Burning Crusade. Most people consider this to be a pretty tough encounter (expect those who've already mastered it.)
As usual the mobs here will wipe your group, repeatedly, unless you have the right gear and use the right tactics.
The High King Himself, in all his, ermmm... glory.
